Description
The SAV 110 ELT PRSN 6MMCM 26″ 10RD GRY is the rifle I’d grab if I had one chance at a 1,000-yard shot on a Wyoming pronghorn. This is Savage’s factory-built long-range rig, chambered in 6mm Creedmoor and built on the MDT ACC chassis. It’s a production rifle that shoots like a custom build, right out of the box.

Key Features
- MDT ACC Aluminum Chassis – Why it matters: Full-length ARCA rail, adjustable LOP and cheek rest, and a rigid backbone that keeps harmonics consistent shot after shot. You can mount a tripod, bag rider, or monopod without extra adapters.
- Factory Blueprinted Action – Why it matters: Savage hand-laps the bolt lugs and trues the receiver face at the factory. This cuts down on bolt lift effort and ensures the action screws align perfectly with the chassis.
- 26″ Heavy-Contour Barrel in 6mm Creedmoor – Why it matters: The extra length and mass stabilize the 6mm CM’s high-BC bullets (like the 108gr ELD-M) and keep velocity consistent. You’ll get less than 15 fps spread with quality factory match ammo.
- Adjustable Core Competition Trigger – Why it matters: You can dial pull weight from 1.5 to 4.5 lbs without tools. The trigger breaks clean with zero creep, which is critical for calling your shots at distance.
- 10-Round AICS-Pattern Magazine – Why it matters: Steel magazine feeds the 6mm CM reliably, and it’s compatible with every major AICS bottom metal. No guesswork on mag compatibility.
Who It’s For
This rifle is built for the hunter who shoots more than they hunt—the guy who spends winter months punching steel at 800 yards and expects his deer rifle to do the same. It’s also ideal for the PRS shooter who wants a production rifle that can hang with customs without the wait or the price tag. If you’re a weekend plinker or a once-a-season deer hunter, this is more rifle than you need.
Pros / Cons
- Pro: MDT chassis is fully adjustable with no tools needed for LOP, cheek height, or buttpad cant.
- Pro: 6mm Creedmoor offers flat trajectory and mild recoil—easy to spot your own hits.
- Con: At 12.5 lbs, it’s heavy for spot-and-stalk hunting. Plan on using a sling or a pack frame for long hikes.
Comparison
| Feature | Savage 110 Elite Precision | Ruger Precision Rifle (Gen 3) | Bergara B14 HMR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chassis | MDT ACC (full-length ARCA) | Lancer LCH (ARCA on forend only) | Hogue overmolded stock (no ARCA) |
| Barrel | 26″ heavy contour, nitride | 26″ heavy, cold hammer-forged, nitride | 22″ heavy, stainless steel, blued |
| Trigger | Adjustable 1.5-4.5 lbs | Two-stage adjustable 2.25-5 lbs | Bergara Performance trigger 1.5-3.5 lbs |
| Weight | 12.5 lbs | 11.3 lbs | 9.8 lbs |
| Price | ~$2,000 | ~$1,500 | ~$1,100 |
The Savage gives you a true competition chassis out of the box. The Ruger costs less but lacks the full-length ARCA. The Bergara is lighter and cheaper, but you’ll spend $400 on a chassis upgrade to match the Savage’s adjustability.
FAQ
What is the twist rate on the 6mm Creedmoor barrel?
1:7.5″ twist. This stabilizes bullets from 80gr up to 115gr DTACs. Per Savage specs, it’s optimized for 105-108gr match bullets.
Does this rifle come with a scope rail or rings?
No. It includes a 20 MOA Picatinny rail mounted to the receiver. You’ll need your own rings or one-piece mount. I recommend a 30mm tube with 0 MOA or 20 MOA for long range.
Can I use this rifle for deer hunting?
Yes, with the right bullet. 6mm Creedmoor with a 90-108gr bonded or monolithic bullet is effective on deer out to 400 yards. But the rifle’s weight makes it better for stand hunting or truck guns than mountain hunts.
Does the magazine release ambidextrous?
No. The MDT ACC chassis uses a right-side paddle release. Left-handed shooters will need to train the support hand to drop the mag. Savage offers a left-hand action version in this model, but the chassis remains right-hand release.
Is the barrel user-replaceable?
Yes. Savage uses a barrel nut system, so you can swap barrels with a barrel vise and nut wrench. This allows you to change calibers or replace a worn barrel without a gunsmith.
