Alabama keeps buying simple. There is no state purchase permit, no registration and no waiting period, and since January 1, 2023 adults 19 and older may carry a concealed handgun without a permit. You still buy through a licensed dealer: order here, name the FFL where you want to pick up, and the dealer runs the federal background check. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door.
The 2026-27 gun deer season opens November 21 in most of the state (November 7 in Zones D and E) and runs to February 10 on private land. Our city pages show the county sheriff who issues pistol permits, your deer zone and the nearest state-run shooting ranges for 22 Alabama cities.
