Description
If you’re heading out for dove in South Alabama, or chasing quail around here in Montgomery County, a side-by-side shotgun is a natural fit. The Heritage Mfg. Badlander .410 is a good option if you want that classic feel in a new shotgun, and it’s light enough for a day in the field.
What You’ll Use It For
- Small Game Hunting: .410 is plenty effective on dove, quail, and other smaller birds.
- Range: A lot of folks enjoy the feel of a side-by-side for clay shooting.
- Home Defense: While not the most common choice, a .410 can be effective at close range.
About the Badlander .410
Heritage Mfg. built the Badlander line to give you the look and operating characteristics of the older, classic side-by-side shotguns, but with more consistent manufacturing. This .410 version has a 28-inch barrel, which gives you a little more sight radius and helps with swing. The black chrome finish on the barrel and action is tougher than it sounds – it’ll hold up to Alabama weather and regular use without rusting.
You’ll find a simple brass bead front sight, and the shotgun operates with twin triggers and a tang-mounted safety. It’s a straightforward design, which means there’s less to go wrong, and it feels right in your hands. The stock is walnut, giving it a more traditional look and feel.
