Built from a combination of new-made and American and Israeli military surplus components by Douglas Laurence Oefinger of Stamford, Connecticut, this is a fully functional Browning Model 1919A4 Machine Gun outfitted as an infantry weapon and marked in the style of a WWII-production gun from the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, long ventilated heat shield around the barrel and Saginaw/DLO nomenclature markings on the right side plate. A swiveling pintle is mounted at the front of the receiver and a traverse & elevation mechanism at the rear, with a checkered pistol grip. Included with the 1919 is a green painted folding field mount, with a metal plate on the front hinge marked for the Appliance Manufacturing Company and dated 1945 with a pair of “six-pointed star” stamps.
Condition
Excellent, with 95% plus original parkerized finish, showing some light wear and handling marks overall. The field mount shows some spotting on the bright sections and mild wear overall. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
