Description
John Browning designed the robust Winchester Model 1886 to handle the heaviest cartridges of the day. It was originally chambered in .45-70, .45-90 WCF and .40-82 WCF, and was later offered in other large cartridges. The action proved strong enough to make the jump to modern smokeless powder with only minor modification. Winchester’s principal big game repeater, the 1886 frequently saw action in Africa, and was a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt. The rifle continued to be produced until 1932.
This modern day reproduction Cimarron is faithful to the original design but is built using modern metallurgical processes. It is chambered in.45-70 Government and features a color case hardened receiver, a 26″ octagonal barrel and an oil-finished black walnut stock.
