The Second Generation Savage Axis XP offers best-in-class features and excellent performance at an affordable price, hallmarks of Savage rifles and the whole Axis lineup. The heart of the Axis rifle, and the key to its reputation for accuracy is its precision button-rifled barrel, with thread-in headspacing for improved bolt to barrel fit. The steel receiver features a silky-smooth bolt action, and convenient detachable magazine for easy loading. The stock of the Gen 2 Axis has improved ergonomics and rigidity to increase shooter comfort, and accuracy compared to previous models. Fitted with a 22-inch barrel for an optimum balance of ballistic performance and handling, the Axis weighs in at 6.5lbs making it a joy to carry in the field. This scope pacakage version includes a factory mounted 3-9×40 scope.
